US-Taiwan Defense Industry Conference 2026

The US-Taiwan Defense Industry Conference 2026 will be held October 18-20, 2026, in Williamsburg, Virginia. This will be the 25th annual event in a series of ongoing conferences addressing the future of U.S. defense cooperation with Taiwan, the defense procurement process, and Taiwan’s defense and national security needs.

This year, the first session will provide an updated assessment of existing and future threat scenarios for Taiwan. The panel will evaluate the impact a changing threat picture may have on the balance between near-term readiness investments and long-term, multi-year defense procurement plans. The second session will explore how Taiwan’s whole-of-society resilience approach integrates military and civilian readiness into its overall deterrence and preparedness strategy.

The third session will consider the changing strategic environment and how to ensure that Taiwan’s armed forces are organized, trained, and designed to meet future challenges. The panel will discuss Taiwan’s force planning evolution, examining how changes to doctrine, training, and organizational structures could align to address a broad range of threat scenarios. The fourth session explores lessons learned from the conflicts in Ukraine and Iran, examining potential implications for Taiwan’s defense policies, national security strategies, operational readiness, and long-term deterrence. The fifth session examines the interplay between foreign procurement and expanded domestic production capacity and its impact on Taiwan’s deterrence goals. The panelists will assess the priorities of the Taiwan government and military, the Legislative Yuan, Taiwan industry, and foreign defense contractors, and evaluate how they together help shape Taiwan’s defense posture.

Keynote Addresses & Conference Program

Keynote speakers will include senior representatives from the Taiwan and U.S. governments. Conference sessions at the US-Taiwan Defense Industry Conference feature a moderator and several speakers on the panel, and some sessions may include additional commentators. Each speaker gives a short presentation on the session topic from his or her own viewpoint and expertise. Those presentations are then followed by a moderator-led discussion among the panelists, as well as a moderator-driven question and answer period with the attendees. This format offers the maximum amount of time for exchanges among the panelists, as well as between the panel and the audience, allowing the sessions to become a forum for substantial and valuable interaction and discussion.
